Dyed with rhubarb root (yellow) and colour changed with iron (green) and soda ash (orange). |
On 17th August I went to a natural dyes workshop at Apple Oak Fibre Works in Co. Clare. It was a very informative day with lots of hands-on aspects and a lovely group of people. We got tips on using mordants, kitchen and hedgerow dyes, altering the PH and changing colours and dyed with avocado stones (peachy colour), brambles (leaves and green stems) we foraged (rusty colour) and rhubarb root which had been prepared the day before and gave three lovely colours.
